News: BMI Congratulates 2020 Latin Grammy Winners

BMI is hugely proud of its many songwriters who were celebrated at last night’s Latin GRAMMY Awards. Because of safety concerns, the annual event was produced out of multiple locations, but still featured some unforgettable performances, as well as several poignant moments with artists whose music made a lasting impact over the course of this past year. Among the multiple winners was Residente, who took home the Song of the Year Award for “René,” as well as the Best Rap/Hip-Hop Song Award for “Antes Que El Mundo Se Acabe.” Ozuna & Rosalía’s collaboration, “Yo X Ti, Tu X Mi,” was also celebrated with the award for Best Urban Fusion/Performance and the award for Best Urban Song.

Beyond the accolades, the evening was made extra special by some truly unique performances. Pitbull delivered one of the most energetic displays of the evening with a memorable take on “I Believe We Will Win (World Anthem)” with a band composed of current frontline workers and responders, including Major Frank Fernandez on drums, physician’s assistant Debi Kuiper-Tomas on bass, and Captain Eddy Alarcon and Lieutenant Troy Maness on guitar. Ricky Martin duetted beautifully with Carla Morrison on a rendition of “Recuerdo” before segueing into a stirring version of “Tiburones.” Karol G unleashed a rousing version of her smash hit “Tusa,” and J Balvin, who’d been nominated for a stunning 13 awards, performed a powerful rendition of “Rojo,” flanked by a full gospel choir.

Congratulations to all! Here’s a list of all the BMI winners.
